Okay, please tell me I am not the only one who noticed all the celebrities at the Golden Globes wearing black?
Ha. You’re right – I am definitely not. The major choice of black throughout the award ceremony was easily the talk of the night.
Well, aside from Oprah’s presidential speech, of course.
Anyways, if you haven’t seen the headlines or you didn’t watch the Golden Globes and have no idea what I am talking about, you are probably wondering when I am going to give you some more detail.
Well, I am about to spill the beans:
Who wore it best?
Every year, it is a competition to see who can dress the best – all the celebrities pull out their best of their best and hope the paparazzi agrees. Typically, nobody would want to be seen in even remotely the same outfit.
But, this year, it was different.
What else has been the talk of the town?
Well, think about this for a moment…
What has been a major news story this year that might affect fashion?
That’s right – sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment and gender inequality is in the news, fashion is an easy way to express yourself, and the Golden Globes are a time where a lot of people are listening…
So, it makes perfect sense, right?
Well, the stars agreed.
What does it mean?
But, here are the details on why they did it…
Wearing black was a sign of teaming up against what is wrong in the world.
At the beginning of the month, several celebrities and power females founded Time’s Up and decided to not only join together and wear black but to join together against workplace harassment and assault.
A few of these stars included Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, and Reese Witherspoon.
Impactful? Well, it did get everybody talking.
What do you think of the idea?
